Most Croatia tours focus on the Dalmatian Coast. This unique adventure takes you through the northern part of the country along with neighbouring Slovenia. Both regions are home to medieval villages, a proud wine culture, and some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe.
Join one of our unique small group Blue-Roads touring experiences (maximum 18 participants) that includes specially selected accommodations, transportation in purpose built Mercedes Benz Sprinters, sightseeing, special culinary experiences and a knowledgeable Tour Leader.
This 8-day trip through Slovenia and Northern Croatia takes you between the two countries’ capitals, stopping at some of their most famous sights and wineries en route.
The phrase ‘the next Prague’ has become a cliché, but beautiful Llubljana is a worthy contender – without the crowds! Consider booking an extra day in this enchanting city before you’re transferred to Lake Bled, Slovenia’s most renowned natural attraction. You’ll take a boat ride to the island at the centre of the lake, where you’ll visit the medieval castle and adjacent church. Of course, a region with such impressive mountains and waterways is bound to have some amazing cave systems, and Postojna Caves, the largest system in Europe, do not disappoint.
The road to Croatia takes you to 700 year old Predjama Castle. Then continue on to Opatija, on the Istrian Peninsula. There’s a lot to explore here, where life is lived amid olive groves and medieval villages. Visit a wine maker in Motovun, and the coastal village of Rovinj. Then take a day to explore Opatija proper, enjoying both the splendour of Trsat Castle and the simple pleasures of local markets. In nearby Kastav, visit the Museum of Traditional Masks. Round out your stay in the region with a day exploring UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes.
Your journey to Zagreb is busy, but full of wonderful memories. You’ll visit the waterfalls of Rastoke, enjoy a wine tasting in Plesivica, and see the medieval village of Samobor. The charms of this tiny town seem like the antithesis of Croatia’s capital, but Zagreb is one of the country’s underrated highlights, being the epicentre of its fascinating culture. So consider staying for a day or two after visiting Kumrovec and Trakoscan Castle on your last included day.
